About
Día de Muertos
The Dia de Muertos, the Day of the Dead, is the most popular holiday in Mexico. Just like Halloween, it is the legacy of a tradition rooted deeply in time, emphasizing the passage of the seasons and our lives. But it also allows us to remember and honor the path paved by our ancestors and the roots that sustain us
This year, the main theme of the Dia de Muertos MTL Festival is to honor one’s Roots. This theme can be found in all events, exhibitions, and activities presented during this 2024 edition, which will take place in several neighborhoods of Montreal. PAAL Partageons le monde aims to bring to a larger number of Montrealers the fantasy, beauty, and thoughtfulness associated with this special celebration.

The grand “MANALLI,” a true immersive experience on November 2
PAAL invites Montrealers to experience, just like in Mexico, a grand event called Manalli. This 8th edition of the traditional altar exhibition is part of a community event that highlights the natural cycle of life and death, as celebrated in the ancient traditions of the Mexican people.
A variety of artistic performances, along with the flavors, scents, and products of a seasonal market unique to the tradition, will enrich this unique cultural exploration.
Manalli will take place in the main hall of the Rudolf Steiner School between 12 pm and 6 pm. Artisans will be present. To avoid overcrowding, we encourage you to reserve a time slot that suits you.

This 40-minute performance is part of the Festival Día de Muertos MTL 2024, inviting the audience to reflect deeply on the connection between life, death, and ancestral traditions.
